I have presented a multimedia project with 2 of my classmates in the course Instructional Media and Techniques (EDU232) about the types of pollution that will be instructed for 5th graders. We included a PowerPoint presentation about 4 main types of pollution, a WebQuest to explore about 2 other types of pollution that aren't much known, an interactive bulletin board, a graphic mounting and a digital game (questions and answers).
1) The PowerPoint presentation included causes and effects of the 4 types of pollution (water, air, soil, and noise) and real live pictures of the damages done by those types of pollution. The PowerPoint included general solutions for all types of pollution.
2) The Web quest included 2 unknown types of pollution: Heat and light pollution. The students were going to explore their causes, effects and solutions and present their findings in front of the class in groups.
3) The interactive bulletin board is the following: The students, after learning about the causes, effects and solutions would assess themselves by engaging in this interactive bulletin board. They would be given the light green pieces of paper wit solutions on them regarding each type of pollution and they would try to stick it the right place for better learning.
4) The graphic mounting or the visual is the following: This visual will remain on the class wall during the entire lesson. The purpose is to remind students that saving the Earth is in their future hands. They can rescue the world by their efforts.
5) The digital game URL is the following: https://flipquiz.me/review/175567
The game involves buttons that when clicked on, questions pop up. There will be teams that compete against each other. In case one team answers wrong, the other team will be given the chance to answer. If they answer wrong too, the teacher will reveal the answer. The teacher is in charge of the game. Whichever team answers the most questions correctly, they will win. The winners will be participating
with the school’s environment committee in their plan for organizing an Eco-friendly day.
